An honest look at the woman behind Toxic Luv: why she wrote, who it is for, and what she hopes you take away if you have walked a road like this.

About page content (edit in admin).

I'm Veronique Eloise, and I wrote Toxic Luv: Inspired by True Events for everyone who has been married to, or is still bound to, someone with an antisocial personality: the constant doubt, the deflection, the way they teach you to dismiss your own feelings.

This book is a journey from a philosophy classroom in 2005 to courtship, weddings, parenthood, betrayal, a cancer narrative that was not what it seemed, and finally the work of building a new life. If you are still in it, I hope you get out safe. If you are already out, I want you to remember to really live, to replace the bad memories with joy, with people who respect your boundaries, and with patience for your own healing.

None of it would be here without the friends who held me up when I could not stand, and without my children, the love that made me see what I was made of when everything else was stripped away.

With gratitude, Veronique

Out, writing, and choosing grace on hard days

The writing journey

Writing this was not a neat arc. It was reopening letters, rereading medical portals, and choosing truth over a reputation. The manuscript moves from the first spark of 'Have you ever felt the darkness try to keep you?' to courtship, wedding bells, the ball dropping, secrets, a fake illness exposed, spiraling, and a new life on the other side of divorce.

I don’t claim it’s the only way to tell such a story. I claim it’s mine, in the hope that it reaches someone who has felt alone in a crowded room, gaslit in their own home, or shamed for seeing what was real.

If that’s you: you are not crazy. You can still remake your life into something healthy, filled with people who want the best for you, one day and one small choice at a time.

Even on the most gut wrenching days, remember that you were chosen because you are that ray of sunshine, and you can never fix someone else’s darkness when darkness is all they know.

“My children are the strength that carried me through. The love I have for them showed me how strong I am as a mother and as a woman.”
